Piedmont Corridor

There are currently two projects underway along the Piedmont Road Corridor: the Piedmont Road Widening project and the Piedmont/Roswell/Habersham Scoping Study.

The Piedmont Road Widening project, between Peachtree Road and Lenox Road, will accommodate three lanes in each direction, a center turn lane and a 12-foot wide multi-use trail.

Croy Engineering has completed the survey work on the project and is now working on the design, which will take approximately 12 months with the plans to be completed by fall 2019. Construction is currently scheduled for fall 2020 and will be completed in approximately 18-24 months after the Buckhead CID selects a contractor.

A scoping study for the intersection at Piedmont, Roswell and Habersham Roads is currently underway to recommend corridor and intersection improvements to reduce traffic congestion and improve walkability, including but not limited to adding or eliminating one or more intersection approaches, adding or eliminating intersection signalization, increasing the spacing between intersections and grade separation. Stay tuned for more project information and opportunities for public involvement.

Wieuca Road Roundabout

A third party firm recently confirmed that a roundabout was the best option for the improving traffic flow at the Wieuca Road/Phipps Boulevard intersection with a few small changes in design. The City of Atlanta Renew program has contracted with the same third party firm to embark on a robust community engagement plan with several tiers of stakeholders. The City of Atlanta Renew team expects to complete these stakeholder meetings by the end of September 2018. For more project information, visit the Buckhead CID's website.

Park Over GA 400

The Buckhead CID will be hiring a consultant team to prepare database of survey and geotechnical data that will be the basis for the future engineering of the Park Over GA400. This phase of the project will take approximately six to nine months. The CID is also partnering with MARTA on this survey task, considering they have a significant amount of historic survey data that dates back to the construction of the Buckhead transit station and the MARTA pedestrian bridge over GA 400.
