East Paces Ferry Road Complete Street Project Update
The East Paces Ferry Road Complete Street Project is a bicycle and pedestrian improvement project between the Gordon Bynum Pedestrian Bridge and Roxboro Road. The project includes a multiuse trail or cycle track, which will be located on the south side of East Paces Ferry Road along the MARTA Lenox Station property.
East Paces Ferry Road will be narrowed to provide adequate shoulder width for construction of a 10 foot to 12 foot wide multiuse trail with a three foot to five foot grass strip separating the facility from the back of the curb, which will provide an important connection to PATH400 on the west side of the pedestrian bridge.
This is a project in the City of Atlanta's infrastructure bond program, with the city contributing $1 million toward the construction of the project and the Buckhead CID paying for and managing the project design. The Buckhead CID also will contribute additional construction funding if the cost exceeds the $1 million being contributed by the city.
Elements of the project currently include the following:
- Roadway resurfacing length of the project
- New curb and cutter
- Wide sidewalk/multiuse facility
- Crosswalks
- Green lane/paint bicycle facilities
- Potential new traffic signals at East Paces Ferry Road at Oak Valley Road and East Paces Ferry Road at Wright Avenue
- Pedestrian lighting
- Landscaping, including trees and ground covering
