More Funding for 2016 Initiatives

The Atlanta Regional Commission has provisionally awarded the Buckhead CID two federal transportation grants to improve the safety and flow of Atlanta traffic through Buckhead.

The two projects are included in the draft Transportation Improvements Program, currently in the public comment period. The first recommendation, for $640,000, is for the Buckhead CID to conduct an engineering study to widen Piedmont Road between Lenox Road and Peachtree Road. The second recommendation, for $200,000, is for a scoping study to determine what improvements can and should be made to Lenox Road between East Paces Ferry and Piedmont Road. The goal is to improve accessibility and relieve traffic congestion. Buckhead CID is expecting a final determination of the grants by March.

Finally, the Buckhead CID has submitted a grant application to the Atlanta Regional Commission to update the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) plan. The announcement of the grant is expected by the end of January, and if awarded, BCID will hire consultants to significantly update the plan with extensive input from the community.
